Crew

I am a member of the McQuaid Jesuit Varsity Crew Team. I began my novice season in the spring of 2023. The vast majority of my experience is in sweep rowing, and I am a primarily port rower, but I can row both port and starboard. In addition to my time on the McQuaid Jesuit Crew Team I have also rowed with the Pittsford Summer Competitive Rowing program.

Robotics

I have been on McQuaid’s team, #3173 the IgKnighters, since I was able to join in my freshmen year. On the team I serve primarily as the student in charge of our manufacturing sub-team. Through my time on the team, I have gained insight and experience into the processes of iterative design, rapid prototyping, subtractive manufacturing, and many other useful skills and disciplines. In addition to serving as the team's manufacturing lead, I also am a part of the team’s project management, which has given me very valuable leadership experience, and I serve as Pit Boss at competitions, meaning I am one of the students in charge of keeping the robot working through competitions. I have also unofficially filled many roles throughout my time on the team, giving me experience and facility in CAD design, mechanical, and electrical fields. I have also had the honor of being nominated twice for the FIRST Leadership Award, the highest honor a team can give to one of its members.

Row for Hope

As a part of my senior capstone project I participated in a long-standing tradition on our crew team called the Row for Hope, an annual fundraiser whose proceeds go to a charity chosen at the beginning of each trip. As a part of the fundraiser, we row the entire length of the Erie Canal in a week, starting in Buffalo and ending in Albany, totaling about 368 miles. This year we selected the House of Mercy, a local shelter for those experiencing homelessness, to be the beneficiary. We managed to raise awareness about the challenges faced by some of our community members and donate $23,000.
